Visiting Kéré is much more than sightseeing. It's an opportunity to contribute to improving the lives of local communities, who live on remote islands in the Bijagós Archipelago.
The NGO Escama was founded by the Kéré Ecolodge in 2019 with the aim of funding education, health and community development projects on the neighboring islands of Carache and Caravela.
Through donations and funds invested by the Kéré Ecolodge, the communities have benefited from volunteer programs in schools and health centers, rice husking machines to make their daily lives easier, water systems and the transport of urgent patients to Bissau.
Tourism can be done in a sustainable way, but also in solidarity. A reservation with us is a contribution. A donation is a contribution. Sharing information about our work is a contribution.
