Come by plane

Royal Air Maroc

Departure is possible from many big cities in France (Bordeaux, Lyon, Marseille...) and in Europa via Casablanca. The flight to go is a night flight with arrival at Bissau around 3.00 AM. The return flight takes off early in the morning and arrives at the end of the day. You have the right at 2 luggages of 23kg each and a cabin bag of 10kg reglemented shape. The ticket go and back cost between 700 and 900 euros.

Departure is possible from many big cities in France or in Europa but always via Lisbonne. The flight to go is a day flight with arrival at Bissau around 1.00 PM. The return flight takes off in the afternoon and arrives in the evening on the french territory. You have the right at 2 luggages of 23kg each and a cabin bag of 10kg reglemented shape (to check with each company) but it is already a lot for fishing equipment.

How to get your visa for Guinea-Bissau

To enter Guinea-Bissau, you need a visa valid for 3 months. There is still a short time ago, there was possible to get the visa at your arrival at Bissau. Now, you cannot. You have to get the visa before your departure. You can count a month or 2 to be sure to get the visa in time. The visa is only delivered by the Guinea-Bissau ambassy in Paris or in your country. You have 3 ways to get the visa :
1) Going ambassy by yourself or send a friend. The visa is rarely delivered immediatly and you will have to go back a second time!!!!!
2) Send a complete file to the ambassy without forget the check. Send it by registered mail or chronopost. Join to the registered envelop an other registered envelop with your name for mail back. Take a security delay in your administratives procedures.
3) Use the paid visa application services that handle the file for you: surely the safest method but more expensive

Medical precautions

Vaccine

Vaccination against yellow fever is the only one required to obtain a visa. Only accredited centers are able to vaccinate you and provide you with the international vaccination book (small yellow booklet). It must be done no later than three weeks before departure and a booster shot within two years will be required to be immunized for life.
Other vaccinations are recommended: diphtheria-tetanus-poliomyelitis, meningococcal meningitis, typhoid fever, hepatitis A and B, rabies. Ask your doctor or authorized center near you. Clicking on this paragraph will take you to the government list of international immunization centers in France.

Care kit

In Kere, there are very few mosquitoes and very strict hygiene measures are respected, but we are never safe from the daily hassle, so it is better to be ready!
An anti-malarial treatment is necessary, even mandatory because it is better not to take the risk. For short periods, malarone is recommended. During your vaccination in a specialized center, the doctor will suggest a kit of care for all the usual eventualities. If you go through your personal doctor, do not forget to ask him to give you a list for a kit of care: antibiotic, anti-diarrhea, antispasmodic, paracetamol, possibly antihistamines, without forgetting a disinfectant!

Money

Since 1997, Guinea-Bissau has joined the West African Monetary Union. The country has abandoned the Guinean pesos in favor of the West African CFA Franc (XOF)
also known as Franc of the BCEAO African Financial Community. This currency is legal tender in the eight countries of the Union in question:
Benin, Burkina-Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Niger, Senegal and Togo.
As of 30/07/2016, 1 Euro = 655.957 CFA BCEAO Franc.
